Man Injured in Hit-and-Run Outside Long Island Bar

A man sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run accident outside a Long Island bar at approximately 10 p.m. on Sunday, October 11.

The 48-year-old male victim was standing outside in the parking lot of Jack McCarthy’s Pub in Centereach on Middle Country Road when he was struck by a vehicle driving in the lot. People on site immediately called for an emergency vehicle, and he was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was listed as being in serious but stable condition.

The vehicle, meanwhile, fled the scene of the accident heading south on Lake Grove Boulevard. It was described as a white pickup truck. Anyone with any information on the suspect is asked to contact the Fourth Squad or Crime Stoppers.

Hit and run accidents a serious offense

Whenever there is an accident, all parties involved are expected to remain behind at the scene, exchange information and cooperate with any ensuing investigations.

A failure to remain behind at the scene is a misdemeanor offense, and can rise to felony level if the accident in question involved an injury or fatality. This means a person found guilty of fleeing the scene of an accident causing serious injury could face significant fines and potential prison time.

If you’ve been injured as the victim of a hit and run accident, it can be difficult to know how to proceed until they find the offender, but you do have options available to recover compensation for the damage and losses you’ve experienced.
