Multi-Vehicle Accident Results in Several Injuries

Four people sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle accident in Mineola at the intersection of Willis Avenue and Jericho Turnpike.

According to information released by the Nassau County Police Department, the accident occurred just after 3 a.m. and involved a Lexus sedan, a Chevy SUV and a Jeep SUV.

The sedan, which was driven by a 27-year-old man, was heading east on Jericho Turnpike when it hit the Chevy, being driven by a 38-year-old man. This impact caused the Chevy to collide with the Jeep, which was driven by a 26-year-old woman.

The Lexus ultimately struck a fence and a pair of businesses and caught on fire. The driver of the Lexus and a 28-year-old female passenger had to be transported to a hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Emergency responders said the Lexus split in half, with one part overturning with the two trapped inside and the other part engulfed in flames nearby. Fortunately, the fire department was able to remove the two without any special extraction tools.

Two others involved in the crash were transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Discerning liability in multi-vehicle accidents

When multi-vehicle accidents occur, it can be more challenging than usual to determine liability. Investigators and attorneys will typically look to see who caused an initial collision, or who broke rules of the road that led someone else to collide with another vehicle.

If you have been injured in a multi-vehicle accident, it is important to work with a skilled personal injury attorney to carefully analyze your case and determine how best you can prove liability on the defendant’s part.
